Notts County striker Lee Hughes has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
Reports emerged yesterday claiming that the 35-year-old had been involved in an incident with a woman in a hotel in Croydon.
The League One side were staying at the hotel in preparation for their FA Cup match against Sutton United.
A club statement read: "Notts County can confirm that the club are aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players at the team's hotel on Saturday, December 3. As this is a police matter, the club will be making no further comment on this incident."
It is believed that a woman accused Hughes of putting his hand up her dress while staying in the hotel.
