Billy Davies plays down promotion

Billy Davies plays down Nottingham Forest's chances of promotion to the Premier League this season despite hammering Huddersfield Town at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has played down his side's promotion chances despite thrashing Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.

Radoslaw Majewski netted a hat-trick as Forest cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Terries, with Elliott Ward, Henri Lansbury and Darius Henderson all getting on the scoresheet at the City Ground.

The win was Davies's first since returning to the club, but having previously stated that he had unfinished business with the Midlands outfit, the boss insists that he did not mean instant promotion to the Premier League.

Asked if this easy win would kick-start a surge towards promotion, Davies responded: "I said I had unfinished business, but I meant promotion was the target within three and a half years.

"The chairman has told us to do the best we can and win as many games as we can. There is a big expectation here and the fans are very demanding but, if you don't approach this game properly, it can bite you in the backside, and we're not getting carried away.

"There's a lot of work to do and we know fine well that two wins can take you up but two wins can drag you down."

Forest sit eighth in the Championship.
