Unai Emery: 'Edinson Cavani can fill Zlatan Ibrahimovic void'

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery insists that Edinson Cavani can fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has insisted that Edinson Cavani can fill the void left by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Parc des Princes.

Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United in the summer off the back of scoring 156 goals in 180 appearances for the French outfit, including 50 goals in 51 matches last season.

Emery decided against directly replacing the Swede in the summer transfer window and he is confident that Cavani, supplemented by Jese Rodriguez and Jean-Kevin Augustin, will provide goals for the capital club.

"It was important to give confidence to Cavani," Emery told RMC. "And it's hard to sign a very important player who will compete with him. Jese has played striker, he is versatile and we have Augustin, a young player who is ready to play and who will progress."

Cavani, 29, has scored 83 times in 151 appearances for PSG and has already registered twice in three matches this season.
