Scottish Premiership champions Rangers have reportedly set their sights on signing Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell.
The 26-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Ewood Park and could leave the club for free next summer.
According to The Sun, Rangers are considering a January swoop for Rothwell, who Blackburn may look to cash in on if the midfielder fails to agree to a contract extension.
The report also states that the Gers would be interested in negotiating a pre-contract agreement to sign Rothwell next summer, if they were unable to agree a permanent transfer in the winter window.
Rothwell spent 12 years in the youth academy at Manchester United and went out on loan to Blackpool and Barnsley in 2015, before joining Oxford United on a permanent deal the following year.
The Englishman spent two years with the U's before departing in 2018 for Blackburn, where he has played 130 times across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists.
