Team News: Romelu Lukaku handed Everton start at Reading

Romelu Lukaku starts for Everton in their Capital One Cup third-round tie against Championship side Reading.

Romelu Lukaku will feature in a strong Everton starting lineup for their League Cup clash at Reading.

Blues boss Roberto Martinez has resisted the urge for widespread changes after the Toffees' goalless draw at Swansea City, with Ross Barkley and James McCarthy handed a start in midfield.

While Tim Howard makes way for Joel Robles in goal, Martinez has chosen new signing Ramiro Funes Mori alongside regular central defenders Phil Jagielka and John Stones, with the Merseysiders set to line up with three at the back.

Reading manager Steve Clarke has made several changes to his side as Lucas Piazon, Ola John, Paolo Hurtado and Alex Fernandez are all handed their first starts for the Royals.

Ali Al-Habsi features in goal for the Berkshire club, but Simon Cox must make do with a place on the bench.

Reading: Al-Habsi, Gunter, Taylor, Cooper, Hector, John, Piazon, Fernandez, Hurtado, Tshibola, Blackman
Subs: Moore, McShane, Norwood, Obita, McCleary, Williams, Cox

Everton: Robles, Funes Mori, Stones, Jagielka, Lennon, McCarthy, Osman, Barkley, Deulofeu, Kone, Lukaku
Subs: Howard, Gibson, Galloway, Browning, Naismith, Barry, Rodriguez
