Raphael Varane: 'We cannot blame injuries'

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane says that his team have an "obligation" to pick up all three points against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has said that his team will only have themselves to blame if they do not pick up a positive result in Wednesday's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Los Blancos will be without the likes of Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez and Luka Modric for the clash in Paris, while Sergio Ramos is also expected to miss out.

Varane, however, has insisted that Real's injury situation does not change their "obligation" to pick up all the points against the French champions.

"Everyone has their opinions. What interests me is to talk about the game. Madrid's goal is to fight for the trophy. Unfortunately we have important absences but our obligation is to win the game. The absences won't change the plan," Varane told reporters.

"Both teams want to have the ball. Madrid have scored a lot of goals and created a lot of chances. I wish everyone was available but it doesn't change our philosophy."

Real Madrid have lost two of their previous four European meetings with PSG and have never won in Paris.
