Spain Under-19 forward Borja Mayoral has revealed that he is desperate to be given a chance to stake a claim for Real Madrid in the absence of Karim Benzema.
The striker was on the bench for Real's La Liga clash with Levante at the weekend, but despite featuring in pre-season, has still not made his first-team debut for Los Blancos.
Senior striker Benzema is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, however, and the Spaniard is hoping to take advantage of the 27-year-old's absence.
"I hope so [referring to whether he will get his chance]. I know that Castilla are my team, but it's true that now, with Benzema injured, I may have a chance [in the first team]," Mayoral told Marca.
"It was a dream to have made my Real Madrid debut during pre-season, and now I'll fight hard to make my official debut."
Mayoral was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
