Real Madrid president Florentino Perez responds to claims that he does not possess enough knowledge about football.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dismissed suggestions that he does not know enough about football.

While Perez is currently in his second spell in the top role at Los Blancos, there has been criticism regarding his perceived lack of know-how at the highest level.

However, the Spaniard has responded to the claims by highlighting Real's success during his time at the Bernabeu.

At Real's assembly on Sunday, Perez said: "Look, people say that I know numbers, but I know something about football.

"We had gone 32 years without winning the European Cup and when I arrived Real Madrid were 13th in UEFA's rankings. Now we're number one and we have won 13 European Cups."

Despite his positive record, Real have endured a disappointing 13 months on the pitch, with Zinedine Zidane being brought back to the club after brief spells under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.
