Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has expressed his opinion that Sergio Ramos is the greatest defender to ever play the game.
The veteran Spaniard recently notched up his 100th goal for Los Blancos in their Champions League win over Inter Milan - becoming the 19th player to do so in the famous white jersey.
Ramos's glittering career has often been marred by controversial incidents and disciplinary issues, but Zidane has no doubt that the 34-year-old is the best defender to have ever stepped foot on a football pitch.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Real's La Liga clash with Valencia on Sunday, Zidane said of Ramos: "The best? He is one of them, of course.
"What he has done, what he is, what he has shown in Madrid. I think he is the best in history."
Three of Ramos's 100 goals for Real have come in the current campaign, but the 34-year-old is now in the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, where he has won a total of 22 major honours since arriving from Sevilla in 2005.
