Newcastle United face another battle to keep hold of Yohan Cabaye in January, with Roma apparently preparing to make an approach for the midfielder.
The Frenchman pulled out of the club's first two games of the season after he was the subject of an £11m bid from Arsenal in the summer, an offer which was quickly rebuffed by the Magpies.
While the Gunners did not return for him, Italian publication Corroere dello Sport understands that the 26-year-old has other suitors, including the Serie A leaders.
Roma boss Rudi Garcia, who managed Cabaye while the pair were at Lille, had guided the Giallorossi to 10 wins from 10 at the start of this season, and reportedly wants to add his former player to his title-challenging squad when the transfer window reopens.
Cabaye has scored twice in nine Newcastle appearances this term.
