Bury boss David Flitcroft has revealed that Danny Hylton will return to parent club Rotherham United for treatment on a groin injury.
The 24-year-old moved to Gigg Lane in October, but could now require surgery before the end of the year.
"Danny has done his groin and is going to go back to Rotherham to get an assessment and possibly some surgery," Flitcroft told reporters at a press conference.
"I'm gutted to not have Danny as a part of what I do because from what I've seen in the training he has done in the last two or three days I like what he's about."
Hylton scored two goals in nine games for Bury.
