Craig Levein: 'First start won't faze David Goodwillie'

Levein: 'Goodwillie won't be fazed'

David Goodwillie will be able to handle the pressure of starting for Scotland tomorrow evening, according to manager Craig Levein.

Scotland manager Craig Levein has backed David Goodwillie to handle the pressure of making his first international start against Lithuania tomorrow evening.

Levein has limited striking options available following the suspension of Kenny Miller and the injury withdrawal by Craig Makail-Smith.

As a result, Blackburn Rovers centre-forward Goodwillie has been tipped to lead the line for Scotland during the Euro 2012 qualifier at Hampden Park.

"What an opportunity for a young lad to get a chance to play in a game of this magnitude," said Levein.

"Technically he has the ability and also knowing him personally he won't be fazed by the size of this game.

"I put David Goodwillie in the squad for a reason - that's because I feel he's capable of playing international football."

The 22-year-old has two caps to his name, playing a total of 14 minutes worth of international football.
