Southampton confirm that they have decided not to take any action against goalkeeper Artur Boruc following claims he threw a water bottle and swore at fans during his home debut against Tottenham Hotspur.

Southampton have decided that Artur Boruc has no case to answer over claims he threw a water bottle at fans during Sunday's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Saints fans had claimed that the Polish keeper swore at supporters after making an error which led to Clint Dempsey's goal for Spurs.

Boruc is also alleged to have thrown a water bottle into the Chapel End but Southampton have reviewed video evidence and opted to take no further action.

The 32-year-old was making his home debut after the former Celtic stopper joined Nigel Adkins's side on a free transfer last month.

A trip to Leeds United in the League Cup tonight offers a welcome distraction for a Saints side who sit just one point of the bottom of the Premier League table.
