Mauricio Pochettino: 'I always look for improvement'

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that he 'never rests' after retaining the club's Premier League status this season.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that his initial target at the club was to maintain his side's Premier League status.

Pochettino moved to St Mary's Stadium in January to replace Nigel Adkins, and he picked up 19 points from 16 games to guide the Saints to 14th position in the Premier League table.

However, the Argentinian boss has insisted that he is not content with Southampton's survival, stating that he wants to improve their position next season.

The 41-year-old told the Daily Echo: "I never rest. I always keep on thinking and working for the next season.

"I think the first goal was achieved and that was actually to stay in the Premier League next season."

The former Espanyol coach has recently been linked with a move for Malaga defender Jesus Gamez.
