Steve Kean is remaining realistic about Blackburn Rovers' bid to bring Adrien Silva to Ewood Park.
Local media reports have suggested that the Sporting Lisbon midfielder will be given until the end of this weekend to make a decision on his future.
Silva is currently in negotiations over a possible new contract with the Portuguese giants and featured in their friendly against Charlton this week. There is also plenty of interest from other clubs and Kean is realistic despite strong admiration for the 23-year-old's talents.
"He's connected to Sporting at the moment so if there's an opportunity to get him, great," said Kean. "If not, then we'll respect Sporting's wishes to keep him and we'll move on.
"We know there's other interest from other clubs, but we're one of the clubs that's in the running for him.
"He's an excellent player. He's a type of midfield player that can really do everything. He's box-to-box, his technique's good, he can tackle, he's got good vision."
The Portuguese under-21 international has been at Sporting Lisbon since 2002.
