AC Milan will try to lure Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham Hotspur with the promise of a £300m transfer warchest, according to a report.
The Rossoneri are believed to have targeted the Argentine to replace Genaro Gattuso at the end of an uninspiring season for the club that has seen them struggle to hold down a top-four spot.
As part of a summer facelift, it is claimed by The Mirror that whoever replaces Gattuso will be given a huge sum of money to splash on new recruits, with the hope of turning Milan back into title contenders again.
Pochettino is said to be the San Siro giants' top target, despite Tottenham's reluctance to do business with any clubs, as Real Madrid and Manchester United have discovered over the last 12 months.
Milan hope that an exciting new project in Italy could be enough to push Pochettino into forcing a move away, but it will still take a big compensation sum to buy out his contract, even if he were open to a switch.
