Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Chris Perry believes that Tim Sherwood could get a "job for life" at White Hart Lane should he pick up points over the festive period.
Sherwood was put in temporary charge of Spurs after Andre Villas-Boas left the club, but the 44-year-old lost his first game in charge 2-1 to West Ham United in the League Cup.
"Going with two upfront [against West Ham] gave them more attacking threat and playing with two out-and-out wingers saw them put in a much better performance," Perry told talkSPORT.
"The Tottenham fans I've spoken to were a lot happier, even though they lost. You get these opportunities maybe once in a lifetime so he has to go in and take it.
"There are some good games coming up for Tottenham if you look over the Christmas period. If he can stay in the job over Christmas he might have a job for life."
Tottenham take on Southampton at St Mary's Stadium in the Premier League this afternoon, and you can follow live minute-by-minute text commentary of the game here.
