Spurs choose to replace the suspended Gareth Bale with Gylfi Sigurdsson in one of two changes for this afternoon's clash with Reading.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has handed Gylfi Sigurdsson a rare start for this afternoon's match against Reading.

Sigurdsson comes in for the suspended Gareth Bale in one of two changes from Saturday's win at Sunderland.

Jan Vertonghen also returns to the starting XI in place of Steven Caulker, who drops to the bench.

Reading boss Brian McDermott has named an unchanged side following last weekend's victory over West Ham United.

Spurs: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton, Sandro, Dembele, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, Defoe

Reading: Federici, Gunter, Harte, Mariappa, Pearce, Karacan, Leigertwood, Kebe, McAnuff, Guthrie, Pogrebnyak
