Miroslav Djukic believes that Roberto Soldado will stay at the club despite reports linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic has expressed his belief that Roberto Soldado will remain at the club this summer.

Soldado has drawn interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool during the transfer window, although the Spanish club have always maintained that he is not for sale.

The Spanish international has a release clause in his contract that is believed to be around £26m, and Djukic insists that the only way he would leave is if a club matches that fee.

"I don't think [he will go]. I think he will continue with us, but nobody can guarantee anything. In football as in life, you need to be ready for everything," Djukic told reporters.

"We all want him to stay and we think that he's going to remain but someone could always come in and pay the buy-out clause. That's the danger. For now he's our player and we count on him.

"From the start we've said that Soldado isn't for sale and that the only way he could go is that someone comes in, pays the clause and the player accepts to go."

Soldado, 28, has made 11 appearances for Spain, scoring six goals in the process.
