Real Madrid players 'relieved at Gareth Bale exit'

Sections of Real Madrid's dressing room are reportedly glad to see an end to the transfer saga involving Gareth Bale, who is heading back to Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

Real Madrid's players are reportedly relieved to see the back of Gareth Bale as the forward closes in on a loan return to former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale arrived in London on Friday afternoon to finalise terms of a deal that will keep him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the end of 2020-21.

The Wales international fell out of favour at Madrid under Zinedine Zidane and is said to have cut a lonely figure in the dressing room.

Spanish outlet AS claims that Bale did not say goodbye to any of his teammates as he collected his belongings before flying to Britain.

The same report indicates that sections of the squad are glad the saga is now over, with the 31-year-old often making headlines last season even when not playing.

Tottenham, who travel to Southampton on Sunday, are also expected to announce the arrival of Madrid full-back Sergio Reguilon on a permanent deal in the next 24 hours.
