Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Colombia international midfielder Wilmar Barrios during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old is thought to be keen to leave current club Boca Juniors when the transfer window reopens, with a big European move being touted for the Colombian.
Real Madrid have been linked with Barrios, and the Daily Star reports that Spurs have now rejoined the European champions in the race for his signature.
Barrios has a release clause of £16m in his current contract at Boca, but Madrid are considering an offer of £20m in order to beat any other potential suitors.
Spurs would rather avoid a bidding war which would drive his price up, but are understood to be lining up a move should Madrid's interest not materialise into a concrete offer.
Barrios was reportedly close to joining Tottenham during the summer too, only for the deal to break down on that occasion.
