Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is reportedly weighing up a late move for Rennes striker Mevlut Erding, after flying to France to watch the forward last weekend.
Hughes was in Nice to scout Erding during a 2-1 defeat for Rennes on Saturday night, with the Ligue 1 club reportedly willing to discuss selling the Turkish international.
After watching Erding up close Hughes is ready to offer around £5m to land the former Newcastle United transfer target, according to the Daily Mail
Erding joined Rennes from Paris Saint-Germain last January on a three-and-a-half-year deal, scoring 15 goals in 46 Ligue 1 appearances for Philippe Montanier's side.
The 26-year-old has spent his entire professional career in France, after bursting on the scene with Sochaux as a teenager.
