Steven Fletcher suffers groin injury

A groin injury keeps Steven Fletcher out of Sunderland's home encounter against Liverpool.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has confirmed that Steven Fletcher will play no part in this afternoon's clash against Liverpool because of a groin injury.

The Scot had been expected to start against the Merseysiders, but he has been sidelined by a complaint that he picked up during a training session earlier this week.

"Steven Fletcher had a little bit of a injury to his groin on Thursday. We thought he would recover, but unfortunately not," Poyet told BT Sport.

Fletcher has scored four goals from his 17 appearances in all competitions this term.
