Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is targeting Albert Reira as he looks to add to his squad at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is interested in signing former Liverpool winger Albert Riera, according to the Daily Mail.

Bruce is looking to add to his midfield options at the Stadium of Light and believes Riera, who currently plays for Galatasary, would be an excellent addition to his squad.

There could however be a stumbling block, as the Spaniard is believed to be earning in excess of £100,000 a week at the Turkish side.

The Black Cats boss has also revealed he is targeting a striker in the January transfer window, with the departures of Darren Bent and Asamoah Gyan having left the Wearside outfit shy in front of goal.

Sunderland drew 0-0 with Fulham at home on Saturday and host Wigan in the Premier League this weekend.
