Swansea City coach Garry Monk has decided to make a number of changes to his starting XI as the Premier League side travel to face Tranmere Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tom Carroll will get a chance to prove his worth in midfield, while there is also a start for young striker Modou Barrow who will join Marvin Emnes and Bafetimbi Gomis in attack.

Hosts Tranmere have been boosted by the news that loanees Josh Thompson and Shamir Fenelon have been given permission to play, but they will be without Liam Ridehalgh who hasn't made the cut.

Rovers boss Micky Adams has had to also leave out Kayode Odejayi through injury, leaving the rising Cole Stockton with an opportunity to impress up top.

Tranmere Rovers: Fon Williams; Donacien, Holness, Thompson, Ihiekwe, Holmes, Power, Jennings, Laird, Fenelon, Stockton

Swansea City Tremmel; Tiendalli, Amat, Bartley, Richards, Carroll, Fulton, Emnes, Dyer, Gomis, Barrow
