Sports Mole rounds up the New Year's Day action in League One.

Tranmere Rovers remain top of League One after an Andy Robinson goal saw them win 1-0 at Bury this afternoon.

Their closest challengers Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United drew 2-2 in a dramatic game, as the Blades came back from 2-0 down against 10 men.

Billy Paynter, who had given Doncaster the lead on 18 minutes, was sent off with a few minutes left and United made the advantage count when Dave Kitson scored at the death.

Brentford remain fourth after a 0-0 draw at home to Bournemouth, while a late Jamie Paterson goal saw Walsall beat Stevenage 1-0.

Four goals from James Collins helped Swindon Town to a 5-0 win over Portsmouth, and back into the playoff places.

MK Dons also moved into playoff contention thanks to a 2-1 win at Notts County. Darren Potter and Daniel Powell scored the goals for the away side.

Hartlepool United could not follow up victory at Sheffield United on Saturday with a win. A John Mousinho goal on the stroke of half time saw them lose 1-0 at home to Preston North End.

Two goals from Paddy Madden helped Yeovil Town on their way to a 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient, while Crewe Alexandra's 1-0 win against Carlisle United saw them move up to 10th.

Despite finishing the game with 10 men, Oldham Athletic came from two down to draw 2-2 at Scunthorpe United. Goals from Cliff Byrne and Jose Baxter draw Oldham level before James Wesolowski was sent off.

Coventry City's good run of form came to an end after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Shrewsbury Town.

Elsewhere Crawley Town kept up their promotion chances with a 3-0 win at home to Colchester United.
