Pedro adds two goals to an early Cesc Fabregas strike to help Spain edge out Uruguay 3-1 in today's friendly between European and South American Champions in Doha.

Spain overcame the test of Copa America holders Uruguay by three goals to one in Doha this evening thanks a goal from Cesc Fabregas and a Pedro brace.

The world and European champions were ahead after 16 minutes when a drive from distance by Fabregas was palmed into the net by Uruguay keeper Fernando Muslera.

Uruguay equalised before the break when Cristian Rodriguez burst past Carles Puyol before beating Victor Valdes with a composed finish.

Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez both had efforts saved by Valdes as an entertaining first half ended 1-1.

After the break Spain dominated possession and went back ahead when Pedro controlled Gerard Pique's pass before netting with a low shot.

The Barcelona winger put the game beyond doubt 15 minutes from time when he turned home a fine Fabregas cross to make the final score 3-1 to Vicente del Bosque's side.
