Chris Coleman won't risk Aaron Ramsey against Netherlands

Chris Coleman admits that Wales will not risk Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the friendly against the Netherlands on June 4.

Wales manager Chris Coleman has confirmed that he will not play captain Aaron Ramsey in his side's friendly against the Netherlands on June 4.

Coleman said that Ramsey is suffering from a recurring injury and that it is not worth the risk of a setback in a friendly match should he take a knock, but did admit that it was a blow not to have him available.

"The problem we've got is that he had the same injury problem after Christmas - it was recurring," Coleman told Sky Sports News.

"We thought he could come with us, but we think he needs a good rest. He is a loss, of course he is, and we are a better team when he is with us, that's obvious.

"But we didn't want to take the risk, neither did Aaron, nor Arsenal, I would have thought. He is getting married also, but that's after the game, so that wouldn't have been a big problem, but we think he needs a bit of a rest so we can get him ready for the start of the season."

Ramsey has been capped 30 times by Wales.
