Wales jump ahead of England in FIFA world rankings to 13th

Wales climb up to 13th in the latest FIFA world rankings, leapfrogging over 15th-placed England.

Wales have climbed up to 13th place from 18th in the latest FIFA world rankings, jumping ahead of England by two places.

Chris Coleman's side won both of their World Cup qualifying games in September, beating Moldova and Austria as Wales look to qualify for their first World Cup since 1958.

Wales currently sit in second place in their group and could qualify for the 2018 World Cup via the playoffs, and having a higher FIFA ranking will play an advantage for the nation as it will decide if they are seeded or not.

Despite winning both of their qualifiers as well, England dropped down to 15th place in the world rankings, three spots behind Peru (12th).

At the top of the pile Germany ousted previous top side Brazil, with Portugal, Argentina and Belgium rounding out the top five.

England were not the only home nation to fall in the world rankings, as Ireland fell five places to 34th. Northern Ireland moved up three places to 20th, however, while Scotland made a leap from 58th to 43rd.
