Watford have handed a trial to striker Federico Macheda, who finds himself without a club after his release from Cardiff City.
Macheda burst onto the scene with Manchester United but his progression in the game has come to a grinding halt after a number of unsuccessful years in the Championship.
However, it has been revealed that the 25-year-old is currently training with Watford, who gave the Italian striker the chance to impress during the club's Under-23 fixture with Hull City on Wednesday.
Macheda found the back of the net from the penalty spot and he is likely to be given time to make his mark in training with the Hornets.
