Saido Berahino scores twice in thumping West Bromwich Albion win

Saido Berahino scores twice as West Bromwich Albion beat Burnley 4-0 at the Hawthorns in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion continued their strong run of form with a 4-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League this afternoon.

Headers from Craig Dawson and Saido Berahino left the Baggies with a two-goal lead at the interval, before Berahino and Graham Dorrans registered in the second period.

Burnley had a sight of goal through Michael Kightly after 12 minutes, but the winger could only fire high and wide of a crossbar in an opening that produced very few clear chances.

A powerful effort from Chris Brunt, which took a big deflection off Burnley centre-back Michael Duff, came close to bringing West Brom the first goal of the match moments later, but it just struck the side netting. Berahino then fired a low effort wide of the post for the home side during a strong spell for the Baggies.

West Brom had their first goal of the afternoon on the 30-minute mark when centre-back Dawson rose from a corner before heading into the back of the net.

Long-range attempts from Brunt and Dorrans came close to adding to the scoring in the latter stages of the half, but it was a close-range header from Berahino that left the Baggies with a two-goal lead at the interval.

Craig Gardner had the first real chance of the second period for the home side, but the midfielder's effort was blocked by Jason Shackell as Burnley continued to struggle to stem the flow of attacks.

West Brom had their third and Berahino had his second after 56 minutes when the England Under-21 international thrashed one into the bottom corner following another brilliant move from the home side.

Burnley's best chance of the match came after 66 minutes when Lukas Jutkiewicz met a cross from the right, but Ben Foster was on hand to make a brilliant diving save.

Ashley Barnes then came close for Burnley following smart work from Marvin Sordell, but the striker's effort was high and wide of the crossbar during a positive spell for the visitors.

Dorrans came close for the home side little over 10 minutes from time, but fired just wide following a mazy run. The midfielder was not to be denied in the final minute, however, as he scored West Brom's fourth with a sweeping finish from a Cristian Gamboa cross.
