Mark Noble "happy" with Southampton draw

West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble is "happy" with his side's draw against Southampton, but insists that they went into the match looking for a win.

West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble has insisted that his side went into today's match against Southampton looking for a win but are pleased to have come away with a point.

The Hammers played out a goalless draw with Southampton at St Mary's Stadium, with West Ham keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen making a string of fine saves to keep the scores level.

Sam Allardyce's side appeared to be content with settling for a draw during the match, and Noble believes that the end result was a fair one for both sides.

"We came here to win the game. We could have nicked it in the end and then everyone would have said it was a smash and grab," Noble told Sky Sports News.

"Southampton played well and Jussi made a couple of good saves. I thought [the result] was quite fair. We're happy with the point. The lads dug in well."

The result leaves West Ham and Southampton level on points in 10th place and 11th place respectively in the Premier League table.
