Wigan Athletic midfielder James McArthur has expressed his delight at the appointment of Owen Coyle as the club's new manager.
The former Bolton Wanderers boss is believed to have been chosen by chairman Dave Whelan as Roberto Martinez's successor ahead of ex-England boss Steve McClaren.
McArthur wrote on Twitter: "Happy with the new appointment in Owen Coyle - another Scot. Hopefully everyone can get behind him and the team for new season."
The Scotsman, who has been out of work for the last eight months, is said to have signed a 12-month rolling contract with added bonuses if he is able to take the Latics back to the Premier League in his first season.
