Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers will reportedly reveal plans later today to merge the youth systems of the two clubs from 2016.
The link-up between the local rivals will be staffed by both sides, according to BBC Sport, and is intended to get the best out of each existing network.
No further details have been given, but there have previously been fears aired by both sets of supporters that any merger lower down the scale could lead to a mixed rugby league team in the future.
Hull FC are currently ninth in the Super League table following their surprise defeat to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Wednesday night, while Hull KR are one place above in eighth.
