Northampton Saints flanker Phil Dowson has been named as the captain of England for Sunday's match against the Barbarians.
The 30-year-old will replace Test skipper Chris Robshaw, who will be appearing in Saturday's Aviva Premiership final for Harlequins against Leicester.
"[Dowson] is a great leader," forwards coach Graham Rowntree told reporters. "When he makes a point it is worthwhile.
"We have a strong leadership group at the moment. There are a few guys we could give the captaincy to but we feel Dows is right for this game."
Dowson has previously made five appearances for the national team.
