England drop to eighth in world rankings

England's early exit from the Rugby World Cup sees the team slip down to eighth in the world rankings.

England have dropped down to eighth in the latest batch of world rankings.

The demotion has come as a result of the team's two defeats at the hands of Wales and Australia at the ongoing Rugby World Cup.

Having become the first previous winners and hosts to exit the competition at the pool stage, Stuart Lancaster's charges have now equalled their lowest ever position in the standings.

Elsewhere, pre-tournament favourites New Zealand have remained in top spot, while the Aussies (second), South Africa (fourth), France (sixth) and Argentina (seventh) have all moved up one place.
