Stuart Lancaster has admitted that the England coach's role is his "dream job".

The 42-year-old was named as interim coach ahead of this year's Six Nations campaign and, following his team's impressive showing in the championships which has included a landmark win in Paris, many believe that the Cumbrian would be the ideal permanent appointment.

Austin Healey and Lewis Moody have lent their support to Lancaster's cause, while Andy Farrell believes that the interim boss has restored national pride to the sport.

"It is a fantastic coaching job," Lancaster said.

"If you ask any coach in any sport in any country 'what is the ultimate aim?' it is coach in your sport the national team.

"To that end it is the dream job. What I enjoy most is working with people, helping them improve and building teams and you are doing that at the highest level."

Lancaster has confirmed that David Strettle, who missed the win over France with a chest injury, will return to the starting lineup for England's fixture with Ireland this weekend.
