Jamie Baker struggles to accept defeat

Scotland's Jamie Baker admits that he feels hard done by following a straight-sets defeat to Lukas Rosol in the Australian Open earlier today.

British qualifier Jamie Baker has declared that he deserved more from his Australian Open debut against Lukas Rosol earlier today.

Baker had numerous chances to get a set on the board against Rosol but eventually fell to a straight-sets defeat which did not reflect the competitive nature of a hard-fought encounter.

The 26-year-old Scot served for the second set and secured an early break in the third, but each time succumbed to Rosol's relentless attack.

Baker believes that he had chances to do better in his first Grand Slam singles appearance outside of Wimbledon.

He told BBC Sport: "I'm disappointed, I could see in the third set he knew he'd got out of jail.

"I feel like I should still be out on the court right now."

The Glaswegian has averaged earnings of £22,000 per year during his tour career, but will pick up a purse of £18,000 for his efforts in Melbourne after battling through the qualifiers last week.
