Simon started the game terribly and was broken to love in the very first game of the match and was unable to bring it back level, instead going down 6-4.

It was even in the second until Simon was again broken in the seventh game, but this time he battled back to take it into a tie-break, which he won 7-3.

The third set also went to a breaker, this time Cilic coming out on top, but from that moment on the Frenchman was in total control.

In the final two sets he lost just three games, claiming them 6-1 and 6-2 respectively to ensure a fine comeback win and a place in the third round.
