ATP confirm Colombia event

The ATP reveals that a tournament will be hosted in Colombia in 2013.

The ATP World Tour has revealed that they have reached an agreement to return to Colombia next year.

The Tour has not travelled to the South American country since 2002. However, following a series of talks, a tournament with ranking points of 250 will be held at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Bogota in July.

"The ATP World Tour is a truly global sports property, and demand for events around the world has never been greater," said the ATP's chairman Brad Drewett. "This latest transfer represents a fantastic opportunity for the ATP World Tour to continue to strengthen its presence in South America, a growing market for men's professional tennis.

"The new tournament owners have a wealth of experience in tennis and we look forward to a successful event in Colombia."

It is believed that this competition will replace a 250-point event in Los Angeles.
