Great Britain's Andy Murray comfortably advanced to the second round of the Sydney International on Tuesday, but Emma Raducanu suffered a dampening defeat.
Having been handed a wildcard entry into the Australian Open warm-up tournament, Murray met Norwegian qualifier Viktor Durasovic and dominated proceedings from the off.
The three-time Grand Slam winner eased to a 6-3 6-1 victory over Durasovic in the first round, with second seed Nikoloz Basilashvili now lying in wait for Murray in round two.
However, it was a different story entirely for Raducanu, who once again struggled to translate her US Open glory to success on the WTA Tour as Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina stormed to victory.
The ever-powerful Rybakina served Raducanu a bagel in the first set and lost just one game in the match, taking a 6-0 6-1 victory to set up a second-round meeting with France's Caroline Garcia.
Raducanu will now turn her focus to her Australian Open debut in a week's time, while Murray will represent GB in the second round at the Sydney International alongside Dan Evans, who faces Spain's Pedro Martinez on Wednesday morning.
