Great Britain's number one Andy Murray has won his first game at the Paris Masters against Jeremy Chardy.
The current world number three took just 35 minutes to claim the opening set of the match 6-2.
Frenchman Chardy, playing in front of a home crowd, responded positively in the next set, but Murray was eventually able to record a 6-2 6-4 win.
Murray has now emerged victorious from his last 17 matches of 2011.
In round three Murray will take on former US Open champion Andy Roddick, who defeated Julien Benneteau yesterday afternoon.
