Great Britain's Laura Robson was knocked out of the China Open in the second round by Angelique Kerber earlier today.
Robson, the British number one, was broken in the very first game and failed to recover from that setback.
Her German opponent claimed the first set 6-1, before going on to wrap up the match in just over an hour with a 6-2 victory in the second set.
Robson's defeat has ended the British interest in Beijing after Heather Watson was beaten by American Varvara Lepchenko in three sets at the weekend.
