Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga booked his place in the third round of the Miami Masters with a three-set win over America's Tim Smyczek this afternoon.
The first set was a nip-and-tuck affair as neither man offered the other much on serve.
There were only two break points and Tsonga grabbed one of them in the seventh game on his way to a 6-4 success.
It was a similar story in the second, but this time world number 75 Smyczek opened up a 5-3 lead before just about levelling the match by taking his third set point.
In the decider, it was 11th seed Tsonga who made the crucial break in the fourth game, and he went on to claim the set 6-3 to reach the last 32.
