Seamus Coleman is included in the Everton Under-23s squad for Tuesday night's meeting with Portsmouth, as he steps up his return from a 10-month layoff.

Seamus Coleman will make his return to competitive action for Everton's Under-23s side against Portsmouth on Tuesday evening.

The 29-year-old has been out of action since suffering a double leg break while on international duty with Republic of Ireland last March.

Ten months on from the horrific injury, Coleman will play a part in the Under-23s Premier League Cup match between Everton and Portsmouth at Goodison Park.

Sam Allardyce revealed earlier this month that the defender was back involved in training, and a Premier League return is now on the cards in the coming weeks.

Coleman, a £60,000 signing from Sligo Rovers in 2009, last featured for Everton's senior side against Hull City on March 18.
