Manchester United have confirmed Rasmus Hojlund as their new number nine, with the Denmark international taking on the famous jersey, having previously had the '11'.

The striker was awarded the number 11 last summer following his arrival from Atalanta BC.

A successful first campaign for the 20-time English champions saw the centre-forward score 16 goals and register two assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.

Man United have now revealed that Hojlund will wear the famous number nine for the club next season, taking on the jersey previously sported by Anthony Martial, who left on a free transfer at the end of June.

Sir Bobby Charlton, Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, Andy Cole, Louis Saha, Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov are among the former Man United players to sport the famous jersey for the club.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku have also worn '9' for Man United in recent years, but Martial had the shirt from 2019-20 until his departure at the end of last month.

The 20-time English champions have boosted their attack this summer with the signing of Joshua Zirkzee, but the Dutchman's number for the 2024-25 campaign has not yet been confirmed.

Leny Yoro, who became Man United's second signing of the summer last week, will wear the number 15 for the Red Devils, with the 18-year-old sporting that shirt on his debut against Rangers last weekend.

Man United are currently preparing to head to the United States for their pre-season tour, and Hojlund will make the trip despite his involvement for Denmark in Euro 2024.
