Nathaniel Clyne "happy to stay" at Southampton, despite Manchester United link

Nathaniel Clyne admits that he is "happy to stay" at Southampton, despite reports linking him to Manchester United.

Nathaniel Clyne has played down rumours of a possible Southampton departure by insisting that he is "happy" to stay at St Mary's.

Saints manager Ronald Koeman has given the 24-year-old until this weekend to make a decision regarding his future.

The England international's current terms expire next year and there have been reports that the full-back is holding out for a move to Manchester United.

However, the player himself has poured doubt over that scenario by telling the Daily Echo: "I'm enjoying my football for Southampton - playing week-in, week-out and it's an up-and-coming club, so, yeah, I'm happy playing for Southampton and happy to stay at Southampton as well."

Clyne, who joined Southampton from Crystal Palace in 2012, is believed to be rated at £25m.
