Manchester United 'open Ashley Young contract talks'

Manchester United will reportedly offer a new deal to England international Ashley Young.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to open negotiations with Ashley Young over a new contract.

The ex-Aston Villa winger looked to be on his way out of Old Trafford last season after being largely frozen out by former Red Devils boss David Moyes.

Despite being touted as one of the players fighting for his future at United in the early part of the campaign, The People claims that Louis van Gaal has been impressed with the England international's form in recent months and is keen to tie his long-term future to the club.

It is thought the Young's ability to adapt to playing at wing-back in Van Gaal's 3-5-2 formation has made him a more valuable part of the United squad.

Young came on as a substitute in United's 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round victory at Preston North End last Monday.
