Newcastle United are reportedly ready to step up their efforts to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot and Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Newcastle United are reportedly well placed to secure the signing of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the summer transfer window.

In January, the Magpies shelled out over £90m to help secure their top-flight status, the Magpies eventually finishing in 11th position after a strong second half to the campaign.

While the club's hierarchy would like to spend as much of the money which is available to them as soon as possible, Newcastle are unable to freely splash the cash due to FFP regulations.

Nevertheless, according to Corriere dello Sport, the North-East outfit are in 'pole position' to get a deal for Rabiot over the line over the coming weeks.

Despite establishing himself as a first-team regular under Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus will cash in on the Frenchman due to just a year remaining on his contract.

The report claims that the 27-year-old will cost just £13m this summer, a transfer fee which will naturally attract the attention of Newcastle and other Premier League teams.

Although Eddie Howe's side will only participate on the domestic scene during 2022-23, Rabiot's best chance of starting every week could come at St James' Park.

A new forward is also said to be on the agenda for Howe, with The Mirror claiming that an approach could be made for Calvert-Lewin.

The 25-year-old has just endured one of the most frustrating years of his career, being limited to just 17 appearances in the Premier League due to injury.

However, the England international was a regular during the closing weeks of the season, his late header against Crystal Palace ultimately ensuring that the Toffees remain in the top flight.

Despite his status at Goodison Park, Everton may be open to offers for Calvert-Lewin as a result of the financial issues which have become clear over the past two weeks.

The report claims Newcastle are prepared to try to take advantage of such issues, even with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood already in the squad.

Both players had their own issues during 2021-22, however, with Wilson missing a large chunk of the campaign before returning to impress against Arsenal and Burnley.

Meanwhile, Wood scored just twice in 17 appearances after his January arrival, with the New Zealand international facing the realistic prospect of becoming third choice next season.

Everton are allegedly in no rush to part ways with Calvert-Lewin at this stage, particularly with Richarlison having already been tipped to take on a new challenge elsewhere.

Although Frank Lampard will want to make his mark on the squad this summer, his plans will not include selling the club's two frontline attackers.
