Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos calls an emergency meeting to address the team's struggles, according to a report.

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos reportedly called an emergency meeting on Thursday morning to address the team's recent struggles.

The Spanish champions followed a shock 2-1 home defeat to Alaves in La Liga last weekend with a 2-0 defeat away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Madrid now need to beat Borussia Monchengladbach next week to ensure that they are present in the last-16 stage of the Champions League, having only collected seven points from five matches.

The team's league form has also been disappointing, failing to win in their last three, which has left them fourth in the table, seven points behind leaders Real Sociedad.

According to AS, Ramos, who has recently been on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, organised the team meeting, but head coach Zinedine Zidane was not in attendance.

The report claims that the club captain told teammates: "We are one victory away from getting through in the Champions League, we depend on ourselves and we have to give everything.

"This is Real Madrid, gentlemen. Together, we've come out of worse."

Zidane's future continues to be called into question, but the likes of Ramos, Luka Modric and Marcelo are allegedly still fully behind the Frenchman.

Los Blancos will be looking to bounce back from successive defeats when they continue their La Liga campaign away to Sevilla on Saturday afternoon.
